An argument for the validity of astrology as a science.
69We all know our zodiac sign, many of some of us check the horoscope in the newspaper on the daily basis. Majority of them believe that the planetary positions do controls our personality and also determines the events which occur throughout our lives right from the time of our birth. you might have met people who are serious about astrology too and also people who ask your opinion on how much do u believe in it.. well its also used as an ice breaker in conversations, however you must have an answer or an opinion whether it does have a control or influence on your life.
When we dig the past, we find astrology to be the the earliest forms of science known to man. Many astrological reports have been found and its believed to originate in Babylon dated to 1645BC. Early Greeks and Egyptians used a timekeeping system which was just like the calender we use today. we can even dig further to the period of early man when he has got this thinking ability, he used to think that their might be a relationshp between his life and the earth, similarly every object that he used to watch in the sky which include the sun, moon and the stars. Well it might have helped the early civilizations to understand where they came from and who they actually were. these early people might studied the world around and understood that astrology does work. it's how they perceived because they might have believed though the course of incidents which took place in the sky, somethings like the solar or lunar eclipse might have an impact on their minds.
Today, astrology is not seen as a credible science thought at one time it was one of the most credible sciences, just like chemistry or physics of today. early astronomers like Galileo and copernicus were very famous for their work on astronomy, infact they are known for practicing the astrology. Claudius Ptolemy was an astronomer of whom very little is known, yet he is considered to be an intellectual today. Ptolemy's work on astronomy made it a hugly respected subject at that time. Its because of his work astology has got the credibility of calling to be as science as well as an art. he also ensured that this practice goes on in the medivial times. It was in this time when many other subjects and occult practices were oppressed by the church. Yet he took the authority on astrology to establish is most famous book "Tetrabiblos" (which is one of the most important surviving ancient texts on Astrology by Claudius Ptolemy) which was a reference for the diciples of astrology. Arabs used Tetrabiblos much extensively and they even regarded Ptolomy to be an absoloute expert of astrology, Later the Europeans began to use it and translated it back to latin in the late 12th century.
Modern sciences caused the infulence of astorlogy to diminish, but in 1930's it again came into focus when Princess Margaret was born in UK. Horoscope was publised on the dailybasis ever since and people who read these horoscopes believed that there are number of coincidences and those who were skeptical about it used to say that these are very general and could apply to just about anyone. They also say that people will only look for what they want to see and ignore what is not true for them. Hence people delude themselves and believe that the horoscope is accurate ever since. I think that if we can make them sit with an astologist with their profile on hand then even they can be made to believe in it..
Today we humans are so intelligent and also have a very huge knowledge about the universe, yet we easily dismiss astrology as a credible science. I believe that if we put some effort into the study of astrology as a science then we can learn much more than the early civilizations of our world.
Now an Argument which validates that astrology is science " As per my knowledge every object in this has some frequency and it directly or indirectly might show some influence on us. so, I believe that Astrology is a branch of science which has to be recognised and respected by everyone."
