Okay..now How do you know whether you have a genuine copy of windows or not?To know whether you have genuine winows copy run this command in run dialog "oobe/msoobe /a" without quotes. Hey! Download windows media player 11 or internet explorer 8 from microsoft's website and try to install it. If installation completed successfully then you have a Genuine copy of windows else you must be uing pirated one.

if it say window is already activated its mean your window is full but does not mean that it is genuine. I have downloaded microsoft updates and then i got a notice that your window doesnot pass window genuine validation, and i check my window by above method it say window is activated.

"Windows is already activated" doesn't necessarily mean your windows software is a genuine one. In order to verifty whether your windows is genuine or not you should download the winodws geniune application from update site. One more thing, you can disable the prompt if your window doesnt pass the genuine test but your pc is still non-genuine and vulnerable to risks. Please use genuine software instead of pirated one.

I purchased an OEM Windows XP Service Pack 2. When I have my updates, my windows would occur error saying that it cannot update to Service Pack 3. Is this a pirated as well? How would you know OEM are genuine or not?

the search box type action. Then you will get a list of suggestions. Click activate windows. If it shows activation was sucessful then you have a genuine windows 7

Hello im a computer repair tech in the US i have been running in to computers that are preloaded meaning {dell gateway} and so on that after some time come up as not genuine but they are Microsoft has had problems with there CD keys getting hacked and so many ppl are getting this error also the WPA files in some cases have been corrupted by malware an easy fix is to tell it to act activat over the phone or a repair install from the CD
yeah manas nagpure is right.even if u wil try the above aforementioned procedure,it is possible to get the said dialog box,but ur window won't be genuine.The best possible way is to download a file from www.microsoft.com/genuine/validiate ,And thet's it.It is the sure shot test of genuinity.

the procedure described here did not work for me. The method says my window copy is genuine and online Microsoft says it is not. :-(
when i type this in windows vista 64bit it runs windows setup to create an account. it freaked me out, I thought i messed up my user account. Although what freaks me out more is i could not cancel this and had to create a user and I went to delete it in the users option in the control panel and their was no new account so IDK what i did to my system. I would place a warning on this page that says this is not for windows Seven (64 bit version in my case) although IDK what will happen in a 32 bit version.
I think the warning would be nice as i wish it was their before i did what you said.

If you want to check that is your windows (any version) is genuine or not just enable the auto update function of your operating system. After some time or days (its depends on your internet connection speed)if a massage pop up on your desktop says "This windows is not genuine and you may be victim to software counterfeiting". That means your windows is not genuine. you will get this massage on your desktop left bottom corner near your system tray.

I was running a pirate version of Windows 7 . It started coming up warnings that wasn't genuine.
So i done the right thing and have bought a version of Windows 7 legitimately.
